Bailey was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended church throughout his formative years but did not commit his life to Christ until his junior year of college at the height of the “Jesus Movement”. Following graduation from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, he felt the call of Christ on his life and began ministerial studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1972 he married his wife, Carolyn, and left seminary to minister with an evangelistic Christian rock band.
Bailey began his church-based music ministry in 1973 and served churches in Kansas, Colorado, and Texas. He came to the Pensacola area in 1990 to serve as Minister of Music at Liberty Church. After ministering in two other area churches, he joined the staff of Christian Life in April 2002.
Bailey and Carolyn have a son who is married and living in Pensacola and a daughter who lives in Tallahassee.
